After 25 years of absence, the Puma Mostro burst into the world of sneakers again and in a totally unexpected way. At the opening of New York Fashion Week, Puma with its "Welcome To The Amazing Mostro Show" fashion show in the historic Park Avenue Armory, celebrates the return of the Mostro, ready to challenge every convention and become the object of desire for next season.
Launched for the first time in 1999, it draws inspiration from the sprint studded shoes of the '60s and mixes with the design of the surf shoes of the '80s. Distinctive features of the Mostro are the spiked sole and the versatile strap closure, which in the launch show were enriched with customized pieces from the FW24 season born from the union of stylist Alastair McKimm and Puma's global creative director, Heiko Desens.
The creative director of PUMA x F1, A$AP Rocky, directed and interpreted the Mostro campaign launched on social media, who decided to release it shortly before the show on digital and social channels.
At the moment the new sneaker is not yet available online but has only been released at authorized retailers following the global launch event in Tokyo. Here in the Harajuku area on Cat Street a conceptual Monster pop-up was set up where visitors took their favorite pairs of sneakers from the bright “refrigerators” and could choose between the two flash pink and blue colourways.
In anxious anticipation we just have to wait to take a leap into the past but with a look that looks to the future. Soon available on hypeclothinga.com!
