Revisiting the classic 1986 watch, TAG Heuer teams up with Kith, the famous New York brand, for an extraordinary collaboration, bringing the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Series 1 to life.

The beginnings

To talk about the beauty of these watches it is interesting to go back to the origins.

The debut of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 came in 1986, after Techniques d'Avant Garde – a leader in high-tech components for aviation and racing cars – acquired Heuer, eventually becoming TAG Heuer which chose to nurture that relationship with watches such as Formula 1 and various motorsport partnerships.

Therefore, launched in the 1980s, Formula 1 is a product that manages to overcome even the "quartz crisis", a period in which quartz watches began to flood the market, putting the art of mechanical watchmaking at risk. So TAG Heuer, thanks to the need to adapt to the market, created a quartz watch with a reliable movement, resin case, rubber strap and colored details.

Collaboration

The new Formula 1s are therefore born from the union of TAG Heuer with the Kith designer, Ronnie Fieg, who has always been a passionate collector of the model and who contributed with his creativity to the creation of these watches. In fact, the collaboration highlights a fascinating aesthetic with bright colors, leaving room for creativity without losing sight of the identity of the product.

Furthermore, to leave nothing to chance and pay homage to the authenticity of the union, TAG Heuer has recovered the mold of the original case which has been optimized thanks to materials such as sapphire glass and rubber.

Today 10 new limited edition Formula 1 cars are offered. The stainless steel model is the result of the collaboration between TAG Heuer and Kith. Seven models are Kith exclusives, each inspired by a city that hosts a flagship store for the brand, while the green and blue models are a TAG Heuer exclusive. A particular noteworthy detail is the fusion of its coat of arms with the Kith logo on the dial.
