Nike x One Piece: The Devil Fruit Air Max Plus Collection

The worlds of anime and sneakers collide in one of the most highly anticipated collaborations of the year: the official Nike x One Piece collection.

The brand has chosen one of its most iconic silhouettes of all time, the Nike Air Max Plus (TN), to bring to life the legendary Devil Fruits that grant powers to the protagonists of Eiichiro Oda's manga.

The detail gaining the most traction among collectors is that each model has been released on the market in two distinct versions. There is a special edition box that includes a collectible Promo Card from the official One Piece Card Game featuring exclusive artwork, and a standard version without the card.

For true fans, choosing between the standard version and the special edition box makes all the difference. Inside the Special Box, you will find an official One Piece Card Game Promo Card designed exclusively for this collaboration. This is no ordinary promotional card: each one features limited edition Alternate Art with glossy holographic details and premium finishes, showcasing the respective character Luffy, Ace/Sabo, or Law interacting with the stylistic elements of the sneakers themselves.

One Piece Card Limited Edition

Beyond their aesthetic and collectible value, these cards are 100% legal for official tournament play, making them an absolute must-have for both sneakerheads and TCG players. The extremely limited print run of these special boxes has already turned them into a holy grail. For those who just want a killer pair of shoes to wear every day, the standard version offers the exact same structural quality, just without the premium card inside.

One Piece is therefore not simply a manga or an anime; it is a global cultural phenomenon that has lasted for nearly thirty years, and the Devil Fruits are the core element powering the narrative of these sneakers.

The Devil Fruits

These fruits grant a unique, superhuman ability to anyone who consumes them, divided into three categories: Paramecia (physical alterations), Zoan (animal transformations), and Logia (control over natural elements). In exchange, the sea curses them, stripping away their ability to swim forever and weakening them upon contact with water or Seastone (Kairoseki). A single bite is enough to gain the effects, but eating a second one is fatal, making these powers as extraordinary as they are rare and dangerous.

As a result, Nike wanted to pay homage to this saga by modifying the classic structure of the Air Max Plus to add details that evoke these fruits. Instead of just changing the colors of the TPU cage, the designers completely redesigned the upper, applying raised spiral patterns and textured elements that faithfully replicate the skin of the fruits.

This model celebrates the Gum-Gum Fruit, the very first fruit of the series eaten by the future King of the Pirates, Monkey D. Luffy. This Devil Fruit turns the user's body into pure rubber, granting immunity to bullets and blunt-force impacts, as well as the ability to stretch, deform, and expand at will. In its ultimate Awakening, it allows the user to manipulate the surrounding environment by turning it into rubber as well, granting total freedom of movement guided only by their imagination.

The sneaker features a purple base in Space Purple and Purple Venom shades that faithfully mirrors the design of the original fruit. Vivid Atomic Green details on the laces and outsole nod to the stem, while the Max Air cushioning promises a responsiveness inspired by the protagonist's bounds.

This shoe takes inspiration from the legendary Flame-Flame Fruit, originally belonging to Portgas D. Ace and later inherited by Sabo. As a Logia-type fruit, it allows the user to transform their body into pure elemental fire, generating and controlling flames at will to unleash devastating incendiary attacks while becoming intangible to conventional physical strikes. The shoe itself radiates this energy thanks to a fiery orange base in Brilliant Orange and Kumquat hues. The wavy upper reproduces the spirals of fire, contrasted by Healing Jade details on the collar and the Swoosh.

The final variant draws inspiration from the Op-Op Fruit consumed by Trafalgar D. Water Law. Anyone who eats this legendary fruit gains the power to generate a spherical workspace called "Room." Inside this zone, the user has absolute control over matter and space, allowing them to teleport objects, cleave living bodies without killing them, and even swap people's personalities.

The design features a predominantly red upper in Very Berry and Sport Red tones, enriched by raised spiral graphics. Providing contrast are the Green Quartz details on the mini-Swoosh and inner lining, while Law's unmistakable Heart Pirates Jolly Roger stands out on the tongue.

The Nike x One Piece collection is far more than a simple collaboration, it is a true tribute to a masterpiece that has raised entire generations, touching the chords of nostalgia and belonging. Some discovered Luffy and his crew as children in front of the TV in the early 2000s, while others found them later through the pages of the manga yet, for everyone, One Piece represents a piece of their lives.

For nearly thirty years, theories about the Devil Fruits have brought people of all ages together, turning the Straw Hat Crew's dreams of freedom and adventure into a constant throughout the youth and adulthood of millions.
