Adidas Gazzelle x Gucci

Luxury brand Gucci and sports brand Adidas debut with a new collaboration signed Alessandro Michele, bringing back one of the most iconic Adidas shoe models: the Gazelle.

The Gazelle in history

The first Gazelle sneaker was born in 1966, and there are two paths of thought regarding the choice of the name. The first states that it derives from the athlete Wilma Rudolph, an American sprinter who won three gold medals at the 1960 Rome Olympics wearing Adidas sneakers and nicknamed "the black gazelle".

The other theory believes that the name derives directly from the animal, as Adidas used to give its shoes names of very fast mammals, such as "Panther" and "Jaguar".

Its linear and minimalist design, but above all the characteristic of having the upper completely in suede, has made it one of the most famous Adidas shoes, allowing it to remain on the scene, through ups and downs, for over fifty years.

One of the moments of great popularity of this sneaker is to be found in the 90s, thanks to the Britpop musical movement, whose greatest exponents were Oasis, who made the Gazelle the most desired shoe by the British, also thanks to the launch of the shoe in other color variations.

The confirmation that the design of this sneaker is now iconic, undoubtedly derives from the new Gucci x Adidas collaboration, in which the ex creative director of the Maison Gucci offers a new colors interpretation, without depriving them of their minimalist essence.

Gazelle x Gucci are available on our website Hypeclothinga.com in all its more eccentric and colorful variants. The suede layer that has always distinguished the upper of the adidas Gazelle has been replaced by layers made of refined velvet, snakeskin and the brown "G" monogram that covers one of the models. Even the co-branding is elegant and, in addition to the "Gazelle" writing placed laterally next to the three stripes, we find the Adidas logo embossed on the midsole and juxtaposed with the Gucci logo.
