Nike Dunk Low Chinese New Year Firecracker (2021). The Nike brand continues the tradition of celebratory drops for the Chinese New Year celebrations, and one of the many releases involved in this year's lineup is the explosive "Firecracker" variation.
This commemorative design is chock full of interesting details, all symbols of firecrackers' wrapping paper often seen during Chinese celebrations. The leather underlays are made with an aqua blue tone and decorated with all-over dotted motifs, all superimposed on more decorated leather panels. Brightly styled multicolored Nike brand slogans, plus annotations like "Bang" further echo the explosive theme. The traditional branding on the tongue is replaced by a banner on the left side, while the right side features a "Caution Explosive Power" label.
The usual heel "Nike" lettering comes in bright white on a deep red background. Below, the midsoles instead have a bone white finish, while the tread is fully coated in a saturated red tone that matches that of the upper accents. In addition, the interior lining introduces black contrasts. Currently, Nike China plans the drop for January 27, but a US release is also expected shortly thereafter.
