Nike Air Jordan 5 Retro Laney Varsity Royal is a continuation of the original "Laney" colorway for Jordan 5 which is inspired by the colors of Michael Jordan's high school team, Emsley A. Laney in Wilmington, North Carolina. Originally released in 2000 as one of Air Jordan 5's first non-OG colors, the "Laney" theme returned in 2019 with a Varsity Royal nubuck upper with yellow accents and a gray spotted midsole. The remix of the original "Laney" AJ5 is completed with reflective silver tongues. The Jumpman chenille logos are a reference to the traditional high school varsity jackets
