News of the KAWS x Uniqlo UT collaboration leaked two months before the official announcement. KAWS then turned to Instagram to officially communicate the collaboration by publishing several animated posts with BFF and Companion with different KAWS x Uniqlo T-shirts. Shortly after, KAWS announced on Instagram that this would be the last collaboration between the artist and Uniqlo.

The Kaws x Uniqlo Companion Tee (US Sizing) Pink T-shirt features the KAWS character on a pink background. The release of this T-shirt took place on Monday 3 June 2019.
