Bape Is A Bathing Ape DC Comics Superman. Released in 2007.

Bape Brand: Founded in 1993 by DJ and designer Nigo, Bape quickly became a staple in the global streetwear market. The product that marked the rise of the brand was the BAPESTA. Drawing on the influence of the most beloved shoe in hip-hop culture, the Nike Air Force 1, Nigo elaborated his sneaker without ever considering use as a basketball sneaker, unlike his counterpart Nike, but just as a hip cult product hip -hop. Regarding the design, he exchanged the swoosh with Bape’s “Sta” motif and replaced “Air” with the letters “Ape”.

Backed by the likes of Pharrell, Kanye West and Soulja Boy, and with a 2006 quarrel between Lil Wayne and Clipse over who wore the brand first, Bape saw sales skyrocket in the mid-00s. Soon, the brand became a distinctive synonym for hip-hop fashion. The global appeal of sneakers attracted the attention of Nike executives who admired Nigo’s creative vision and instead of suing the Japanese designer, they offered to buy stakes in the company – incorporating materials and colors from the Bape collection into the their projects in an attempt to satisfy an overlooked market.
In 2006 the Bapesta was released in collaboration with Kanye West in reference to the first album “The College Dropout”.
