Designed by Tinker Hatfield before Michael decided to retire to try a career in baseball, the Air Jordan IX' s design is meant to reflect MJ's global recognition. The international aspect is reflected on the soles of the sneakers, which feature dedicatet text (different on the left and right shoes) in various languages including Japanese, Russian, German, Spanish, French and Swahili. Nike will take action with special editions with baseball cleats only for Michael, now also available in the MLB and the global market.
