The Air Jordan XII debuted in 1996 in the "White / Black / Taxi" colorway, and was followed by four other colorways in 1997. All feature a Bulls color scheme except the "Obsidian" in dark blue and white. In Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Final against the Utah Jazz, MJ is suffering from a serious flu, yet he gives birth to a legendary performance, battling illness, dehydration and fatigue. MJ scores 38 points in the victorious match. Barely able to make it to the bench at the end of the match, an iconic photo depicts Scottie Pippen holding up an exhausted MJ. The black and red coloring of the AJ XII at Michael's feet in the photo has since been nicknamed "Flu Game".
