In 1963 Adidas produced the first all-leather tennis shoe and marked the beginning of a long series of classics. The upper part of the shoe is in white leather, while the dotted outer sole is in rubber. The inner sole is made of synthetic material. Originally called Robert Haillet, after the tennis player retirement the new testimonial becomes the American Stan Smith. In 1967, a green foam padding is added to the back of the shoe for Achilles tendon protection. The Stan Smith is today the best-selling tennis shoe ever.
